It's so fun & exciting to go see the progress on our new home. We are so excited & counting down the days. We have about 5 weeks left & I'm starting to not be able to sleep because I'm so excited. As of today, the house is stuccoed & the rest of the exterior is being worked on. The inside is down mudding & doors about to be hung - then paint, floors, cabinets, etc. All the fun stuff. We've had a few stressful bumps along the way. About 3 weeks ago - our basement had flooded all over. Not a good sign. But it looked like it was coming from the drains & a crack in the cement. We found out the field behind us flood irrigates once a year & we were the lucky ones who also got flooded from it. That's the great thing about having a contractor (we contracted ourselves last time we built) - they take care of it. They had to dig down about 10-12 feet all around to get underneath the house & put a filter hose there to filter the water out to the street. Hopefully we don't have problems with this in the future. All who worked on it were confident that we should not have any more problems. Cross our fingers!
